End Game by Lisa Renee Jones

Oh my gosh! I loved this series so much and am now sad that it’s over. I can’t wait until Poison Kisses comes out. But let’s begin shall we.

How deep can you love?

Passion and danger collide in the explosive finale to Emily and Shane’s story.

After tragedy strikes, Shane hovers on the edge of being consumed by darkness. He will fight for the woman he loves. He will destroy his enemy. He will not back down. As shocking twists, dark secrets, and explosive betrayals within the Brandon family come to the light, Shane must fight harder than ever before.

Every thread weaves a dangerous web. Emily and Derek. Brandon Senior. Maggie and her affair. The leader of the dangerous cartel who’s wedged itself inside the Brandon Empire. It all comes to a head in the shattering conclusion to the Dirty Money series.

It has now been over a week since I read this novel. And let me tell you…. IT WAS PERFECT!!! It was also kind of all over the place, in a good way.

There was lies (obviously), deals and all kind of crazy games being played. And, if you’ve been following the Dirty Money Series, this is to be expected. Oh my goodness, they way Emily and Shane read each other is the greatest thing honestly.

Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself here. Let’s start from the beginning.

This last novel picks up just moments after the ending of Bad Deeds. And let me tell you, the aftermath is kind of insane. Several people dead, after all we were dealing with the Martina Cartel, one person in critical condition, and another in a coma. Oh my, that’s a lot to take in. And how can we forget the involuntary involvement of Shane’s doctor friend. Damn that cartel.

Then there’s a death and two people survive. Honestly, that death really hurt. I was just starting to like him…

Anyway, them plot twists were really great, and you all know how ambivalent I am to plot twists.

I just love Seth, and Jessica. Honestly though, were would Shane be without those two. As for Emily, well she is one of our main characters and not many authors are brave enough to kill of a main character. And when they do, in my opinion, it was a total mistake (I’m looking at you Divergent and Veronica Roth).

And no that was not a spoiler, at least not for this series. Come on now, y’all know I wouldn’t do that to you.

So yeah, things are mostly good with Shane and Emily. And I say mostly because I don’t know how many times those two were at their wits end with one another. Oh hey, Emily’s business idea was brought to life, so there is that. And that issue with her brother finally gets resolved. How?, you may ask yourself, but you know what I’m going to say: Go read the book!!!

As for the ending, how else would it end? It was a happily ever after, as most of LRJ’s works are. And I quite enjoyed it. Especially that one unexpected news. It was absolutely perfect.

And to how the books was broken up. The first half of the novel was narrated by Shane and the second half by Emily. It threw me for a bit but once I was reading, I realized what was going on. But that’s besides the point.

Either way, I hope you enjoy this novel and ending to this series! I know I did.

Bad Deeds by Lisa Renee Jones

This is so not fair!!!!!! I literally just finished this book and I now have to wait five freakin months before I find out who is still alive. So yes, there’s a cliffhanger.

Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in Bad Deeds, the smoldering, scorching next novel in the explosively sexy Dirty Money series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

Would you bleed for the one you love?

To save his family empire from the grip of the drug cartel, Shane is pushed to the edge of darkness, forced to make choices he might never make. His father is dying. His brother is desperate to rule the empire and this means war and all gloves are off. His brother only thought he knew what dirty meant. Shane is about to give it new meaning. There is another war brewing though, and that one, is inside him, his battle between right and wrong, light and dark, and in the heat of the night, it is Emily he turns to for escape. Driving her to new limits, pushing her to accept a part of him that even he cannot.

In every one of Shane’s seductive demands, Emily can taste and feel, his torment, his struggle to save his family and not lose himself. But he is losing himself, and that is a problem just as dangerous as her secret, that still lurk in the shadows, a threat to the Brandon Family waiting to erupt. No matter where she and Shane have traveled, or will travel in the future, she can’t just sit back and watch him become everything he hates, everything he never wanted to become, everything she tried to save him from when she tried to run. It could be their undoing, the end. His end.

This is war, blood will spill, and someone in the heart of the Brandon family will not survive….

Oh my freaking gosh, I really can’t with this novel. There’s just so much going on. Seriously I just need a second to regain my composure…

Okay, all good now.

This picks up exactly where Damage Control ends. Threats and promises have been made, some good news for Brandon Senior, too. But what is going on with Mrs. Brandon? Aha who knows with that one.

What I loved about this is that, even while one was upset with the other’s behavior, there was still love and trust in Shane and Emily’s relationship. Which is definitely a good sign. But oh my gosh, I really can’t handle that cliffhanger after reading about the surprise Shane has.

Onto plot-twists….there were so many, I was in heaven. Let’s just say that things seem to improve, somewhat, for Derek. I also realized why he was so angry at Shane, ALL THE TIME… Oh, you want to know, well I’m not going to spoil anything for you.

We also see different sides of Shane. Sure he can be like his father, what son wouldn’t. And yes, Shane and Derek, as well as Shane and Adrian, are very similar while at the same time being so different.

So, other than Shane and Emily, we see other relationships. There’s Derek with Teresa (not a spoiler, since this was mentioned in Damage Control.) Also a blooming romance between Jessica and one of Shane’s security people. I really liked that Derek and Emily are definitely starting to bond.

Then there’s the whole issue of the Martina Cartel and Mike Rogers. This is what this book actually focused on, even though it had all the other juicy bits that make for an amazing story.

Okay, seriously I can’t get over that cliffhanger. I can’t even really write about it the way I have it in my mind because it would be spoiler-y. But it’s so shocking. This is the first time LRJ does something like this. I have a love-hate relationship with this cliffhanger.

Damage Control by Lisa Renee Jones

I just read this last night and nearly pulled an all-nighter. Of course, I put it down and slept so that I would be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for classes this morning. But it was so good I couldn’t put it down.

Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in Damage Control, the smoldering, scorching next novel in the explosively sexy Dirty Money series.

The only thing more dangerous than a dark secret is a damaged heart…

Shane Brandon has been pushed to the brink, torn between his corrupt family and his explosive, all-consuming desire for Emily Stevens, who he now knows is not who, and what, she seems. Has he trusted the wrong person? Will she, not his brother Derek, be the ultimate destruction of his family Empire?

Emily tries to run from Shane, but he will stop her, confront her, force her to reveal all — one hot touch and kiss at a time, under every intimate detail of who this woman is, and what she wants, is exposed. But as he tears away the dangers of the unknowns with the woman in his bed, and in his heart, The Martina Cartel has set their sights on his company, his family, and the one piece of leverage they believe he won’t gamble with: Emily.

Oh my… I don’t even know where to start. This is the part where I normally would put my tweets on here, but I LITERALLY COULD NOT KEEP MY ATTENTION FROM THIS BOOK.

I greatly appreciate Ms Jones giving us a little description of all the characters. Also, it picks up right exactly where the HUGE cliffhanger ended. Which I’m really grateful for because it means we, the readers, don’t lose any time. Which is irritating when an author does that, at least to me.

Remember, in my review for Hard Rules, when I said that Emily was hiding something. Whoa! was she hiding something. No, seriously, it’s huge and if you want to know, well then I guess you’re going to have to get a copy. But can I just say how happy I am now that I know who she really is. Especially since she’s one of the main characters.

So I didn’t mention in the review for Hard Rules that there were a few mysterious characters in a prologue that I was so dang curious about. Those characters and what they have to do with the plot is just…. I have no words. I just can’t believe how many plot twist there were.

And that ending!!!!! Oh my goodness. I can’t believe Brandon Senior did that. But it sucks about what is happening to him. And why would he behave that way?

Can we talk about the nature of Emily and Shane’s relationship? It was seriously lust at first sight but then it evolves into something more. I still think they are still some of my favorite characters.

This series has become one of my favorites, and I hope you consider reading this novel. It’s full of beautiful moments between Emily and Shane, but also there are soooooo many moments that kept me on the edge of my seat, figuratively, of course, since I was laying down while reading.

Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones

As you all know, I have a tendency of finding new books to read on Facebook. As it turns out, it has gotten the best of me. Not only did I begin a new series from an author I had never heard about, I also ended up pre-ordering a paperback copy of this book.So here goes everything.

Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in the smoldering, scorching first novel in the explosively sexy new Dirty Money series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

How bad do you want it?
The only man within the Brandon empire with a moral compass, Shane Brandon is ready to take his family’s business dealings legitimate. His reckless and ruthless brother, Derek wants to keep Brandon Enterprises cemented in lies, deceit, and corruption. But the harder Shane fights to pull the company back into the light, the darker he has to become. Then he meets Emily Stevens, a woman who not only stirs a voracious sexual need in him, but becomes the only thing anchoring him between good and evil.
Emily is consumed by Shane, pushed sexually in ways she never dreamed of, falling deeper into the all-encompassing passion that is this man. She trusts him. He trusts her, but therein lies the danger. Emily has a secret, the very thing that brought her to him in the first place, and that secret that could that destroy them both. (via Goodreads)

Honestly, I don’t know where to start. I literally just finished this book and had such a huge reaction to the ending, I have no idea where this post is going to go.

Okay, so basically, the story follows Emily Stevens and Shane Brandon. (My two new favorite characters) But it mostly follows Shane. But seriously, though. They are some of the wittiest characters I have ever read. And they’re both hiding something from the other. We find out what Shane’s secrets are, but Emily is a complete mystery, even to me.

By the synopsis, I figured it would be a romance. But I was kinda wrong. Sure it was there, but there was so much drama and mystery. To be fair, I do get the impression that they’re both trying to protect each other from their messed up worlds. Or at least, he is. Because we know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Emily.

Honestly I was left with more questions than answers. But that’s absolutely OK because there is going to be another book, titled: Damage Control. In absolute candidness, I’m more interested in discovering Emily’s secret and what Shane found out. Because seriously that is one of the biggest cliffhangers I have ever read… which is saying something, because I read. A LOT.

All-in-all, I enjoyed the book with its various twists and turns. I’m fairly certain I’m going to end up pre-ordering the next novel. I recommend this novel and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
